Fashion Film: Breaking Patterns

Breaking Patterns celebrates the Black creatives who have helped shape British fashion, bringing together pioneers with more than four decades in the industry and a new generation making their mark today. Through candid personal stories, the film explores creativity, identity and representation, revealing the influence of Black designers, stylists and other fashion professionals whose contribution to British style has not always received the recognition it deserves. From established figures such as tailor and designer Charlie Allen, to acclaimed designer Nicholas Daley and emerging creatives including Sasha Clegg, Breaking Patterns brings together different perspectives and experiences, offering an intimate look at what it takes to build a career in an industry that is constantly reinventing itself. Directed by Tara Greifenberg, the film is both a celebration of Black British creativity and a timely reflection on the people behind the images, ideas and styles that have shaped contemporary fashion.
