There are a number of qualities about the new Autavia that piqued our interest from the very beginning and keep bringing us back to it. First, it's the one chosen by you, the public, when TAG Heuer announced it would revive one of 16 first generation Autavias – the watchmaker’s iconic chronograph – and let online users vote for their favorite.
The winner was the hugely popular Autavia Ref. 2446 with Mark Three dial, designed in 1966 and famously worn by Formula 1 champion Jochen Rindt. We admire this earnest approach to honoring a classic design and doing so thoughtfully. We also love TAG Heuer's use of one of the great new affordable in-house chronograph calibers out there to power the Autavia 2017.
Now, HODINKEE Senior Editor Jon Bues puts the Autavia to the test by wearing it for seven consecutive days. Here he is to deliver his impressions for one of his first HODINKEE articles, A Week on the Wrist with the TAG Heuer Autavia 2017.
