Fur sleeves and embellished shoulders, tough leather, boxy shoulders, and turtleneck collars that reached up to the ears. But there was also something minimalist and different about the collection designed by Manish Arora--different, at least, from its past. This line was much more wearable than we've seen from the brand, but with statement-making inspirations from Brigitte Bardot and the like--he credited her with inspiring his metallic striped shift dress. Something that felt new at Rabanne was Arora's use of space age and futuristic metal themes, not typically seen at a brand like this one. While the cobalt blue made a bold statement, it wasn't with the maturity of the typical Paco Rabanne consumer. Nevertheless, it made a statement of its own.
