Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race 2022 – Overall Winner Announced

Sam Haynes’ Australian entry Celestial is the overall winner of the 77th Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race and deserved recipient of the Tattersall Cup and Rolex timepiece. Finishing just before 11.30AM on Wednesday, 28 December, Celestial overcame some intense competition with the top four yachts in corrected time separated by less than 30 minutes after 628nm of racing. The result marked a dramatic reversal of fortune, with Celestial denied victory last year following a rule infringement late in the race. In a team performance typified by meticulous preparation, impressive boat-handling and unrelenting commitment, the Celestial crew believed in themselves and their yacht when the pressure was on.
