The Power of Necessity: Innovation in Watchmaking | The Classroom Special

With worldwide shutdowns and manufacturer closures, the world of watches looks like we're in an uncertain time and the path forward is tough to figure out. However, here at WatchBox we wanted to remind everyone that this isn't the first time the industry has faced global obstacles and from that struggle something new was born every time. That's why we made a very special episode of the Classroom to look back at those times. C'Quon Gottlieb is back in the office and laying down the stories of some amazing watches that rose from times of global hardship. Whether it be the Breitling Chronograph and Panerai Radiomir during the World Wars, Rolex surveying a post-war world with the Datejust, or the technological advances of the Omega Co-Axial Escapement and F.P. Journe Elegante, brands and people have time and time again proven some of the most innovative ideas can arise from anywhere and anytime. So sit back and let CQ take us on a journey of people and ideas facing a dark future head on and coming out on top. For from necessity comes innovation!
