In this latest collection, Nakazato draws profound inspiration from his experience designing stage costumes for Mozart's opera Idomeneo, which delves into themes of war and relationships in ancient Greece. Set on the island of Crete, the opera’s narrative is visually enriched with an abundance of red ropes symbolizing the sea. These armored figures, entwined in red, evoke the timeless human condition from antiquity to the present. Nakazato translates the opera’s steel armor into this collection through the innovative use of delicate ceramics in dresses. These ceramic pieces produce sounds with the movement of the body, mimicking a primitive musical instrument, and forming an armor that is more ornamental than functional. Tailored suits also make an appearance, serving as a modern echo of ancient armor. These suits, however, lose their rigidity and practicality, draping and transforming into intricate body ornaments. From within, hand-knitted red thread lining emerges, symbolizing the lifeblood that flows through us all. Nakazato's vision turns clothing into a medium that reveals rather than conceals, challenging the traditional importance of functionality in both historical combat attire and modern mass-produced apparel. By stripping garments of their functional purpose and rendering them purely decorative, Nakazato offers a poignant commentary on the fashion industry's focus on practicality, presenting a collection that resists and redefines these conventions. #YUIMANAKAZ
