Inspired by the sea urchin’s pentaradial geometry and the dynamic life of coral reefs, The Folded Sea incorporates layered pleats that mimic ocean currents, delicate folds evoking coral textures, and kinetic accordion fans resembling marine flora. The interplay of watery metallic jacquards and silk textiles captures the shimmering, rippling light of the sea’s surface at dawn. Central to the collection are painstaking hand-embroideries, including 33,000 Swarovski® crystals on a metal silk evening gown and bioluminescent motifs that echo deep-sea mysteries. Macramé techniques conjure pearl-studded sea urchins climbing corsets and hips, while visible boning references protective exoskeletons.
