“For me, design is happiness”, says Manish Malhotra emphatically, “Design is celebration. There’s a certain positive, happy rush that I feel when there is something creative”. He attributes this feeling to his love for movies. He talks about how the sparkle, costumes, music and characters of Bollywood have always enamoured him, and have inevitably inspired his journey. Even for his mask prototype, Malhotra chooses Bollywood as his inspiration. He decides to represent four Bollywood eras on four masks, choosing a different colour scheme for each decade.
