Maximilian Davis reimagined nautical chic for Ferragamo’s Fall/Winter 2026–2027 collection, blending classic sailor motifs with a modern, voluptuous sensibility. Peacoats, middy-collar tops, and navy trousers were given weight and fluidity, often unbuttoned to reveal contrasting white linings.
Davis played with paneling and buttons, some exaggerated under the guidance of stylist Lotta Volkova while balancing minimalism with playful details. Signature pieces included roomy tailored coats with scarf-like collars, buttonable or removable shirt collars, and skirt suits with panels that could be fastened or left open. Though some fasteners felt excessive, the overall mix of swagger and déshabillé charmed the audience.
The designer mined the 1920s for inspiration, nodding to Charles Demuth’s watercolors of sailors, dockworkers, and flappers. The semi-circular, midnight-blue-curtained venue amplified the after-dark allure, with the show climaxing in gold lame cocktail dresses, flapper slips, and fishtail gowns. Daywear ranged from military-inspired coats to bourgeoisie styles, including quilted leather barn jackets with twist-lock Gancini hardware for a luxurious touch.
