Sofia Crociani's latest collection for Aelis, showcased on the top floor of the Opera Bastille with its expansive views over Paris, deepens her collaboration with the Paris Opera Ballet. Granted access to the Ballet's costume archives, Crociani uses vintage textiles, mainly cotton crinolines and petticoats, to craft a largely upcycled and eco-friendly collection. The result is a striking blend of old and new, with structured shapes and bold statements. One standout piece features pannier hips for enormous Rococo proportions, offset by a modern, see-through pink top. Elsewhere, a corset over a black minidress serves as a commentary on how women move and protect their bodies.
