Mike Manjos is back in Philly (as usual) and has some major news concerning F.P. Journe and authorized dealers. Before we turn our attention to that, Manjos kicks off this week's episode of Market Wrap with our Stand Outs. Placing an emphasis on noteworthy dials, this week’s list includes the Laurent Ferrier Galet Traveler with an absolutely stunning enamel world dial, the famed “John Mayer” Rolex Daytona in gold with a green dial, and a Breguet Minute Repeater with a beautifully finished dial. This week’s main story, of course, is F.P. Journe. In one year’s time, the independent powerhouse will discontinue allotments of their watches to authorized dealers in the U.S. and switch to a boutique-only model. To break it down, Manjos brings in F.P. Journe expert and fellow WatchBox employee, George Mayer, to talk about the likely ripple effects throughout the industry. During this special edition of The Pulse, Manjos and Mayer discuss what influence this move may (or may not) have on other brands, how it will tighten the supply, and the inevitable price changes. Lastly, we debut our newest segment, “Manjos’ Value Plays” where Mike highlights tremendous value across the pre-owned market. Check out the A. Lange & Söhne Lange 1 Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar, the Patek Philippe Grand Complications Minute Repeater Ref. 5078P, and the Girard-Perregaux Constant Escapement L.M. -- all amazing pieces that fly under the radar.
