What Will Happen with Watch Pricing in 2021? | Market Wrap

After an unprecedented year and the anticipation of a post-pandemic world in sight, we are cautious to speculate what 2021 may have in store. But WatchBox and Mike Manjos are back for another edition of Market Wrap, ever committed to exploring what’s happening across the watch market and breaking down what that means for collectors, enthusiasts, and our global community. Mike kicks off the episode by sharing some of his favorite pieces that have landed in our inventory this week, including a yellow gold Rolex Submariner with a vibrant blue dial, a Cartier Santos 100 Skeleton, and a Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Calendar with meteorite dial. Our main topic shines a spotlight on the year ahead. As the Global Head of Trading, Mike has his finger on the pulse of the market. He assesses trading activity in major watch centers worldwide, balancing in-market data with daily inquiries, auction headlines, and a keen understanding of what is – and what is not – presented online. Mike discusses pricing with respect to supply and demand, “laggards,” and shifts in consumer interest. In closing, he highlights interesting opportunities and where he foresees rising demand. A. Lange & Söhne’s Datograph Up/Down and Datograph Perpetual are among that list, both priced quite competitively on the secondary market compared with their original retails. And Mike underscores interesting opportunities in classic Patek Philippe complications, including 5270s and 5140s. Let us know your predictions for 2
