Burc Akyol’s Fall 2025 collection embraced the essence of the powerful woman, drawing inspiration from both ancient goddesses and iconic figures like Faye Dunaway. With a nod to the Carthaginian goddess Tanit, protector of wisdom and craft, Akyol created a narrative that felt both autobiographical and transformative, reflecting his own exploration of femininity and queerness. The collection, titled “Fem,” blended traditional craftsmanship with modern power, featuring black tops adorned with jingling gold medallions, a homage to his childhood of learning Rakass, Turkish belly dancing. Key pieces included faux fur-trimmed coats and jackets in striking gold and tailored black, with a standout design dubbed “the dictator’s wife” – a tailored jacket with a swingy tail, symbolizing both strength and style. Akyol also revisited his celebrated Open Heart jacket, now reimagined as the Braveheart – a sharp, back-to-front pinstriped piece with power shoulders.
