Why Rolex Collectors Love Imperfections
Vintage Rolex collectors do not always want a pristine watch. A dial that has shifted from black to warm brown, a bezel that has faded over decades, or a delicate network of cracks in a glossy finish can make a watch distinctive. But aging is not automatically desirable. Paul and Brandon explain where patina ends and damage begins.
One recurring theme is uniformity. A vintage Rolex Submariner with an evenly aged tropical dial may appeal to more collectors than one with a dramatic color change on only half its surface. Others prefer uneven aging. Beauty remains subjective.
