Ujoh’s Spring/Summer collection, designed by Mitsuru Nishizaki and Aco Nishizaki, explored the concept of “antithesis” as a form of questioning established design codes while reinterpreting the brand’s visual language.
Signature elements such as layering and tab-tie details were reworked through shifting proportions and contrasts in silhouette. The collection featured looser volumes, A-line shapes, asymmetric cape-like structures, and pleated details, including styling such as Bermuda shorts layered over trousers in striped and plain menswear fabrics.
A focus on process and craft was reflected in the use of a 1960s Schöherr loom, producing a semi-transparent check fabric by combining wool with silvery nylon ribbon. Additional hand-finishing techniques included snipped thread fringing on coats and skirts in dark tones such as black and eggplant.
Construction details featured exposed zippers placed in unconventional positions, including across jacket fronts and skirts, as well as snap fasteners revealing layered structures beneath garments. Sheer lace elements were combined with heavier materials such as knitwear, faux suede, and faux fur, creating contrasts in texture and weight.
Check shirting fabrics referenced grunge influences, while the collection also included collaboration pieces created for the Japanese music group Dreams Come True, which were presented as part of the runway and integrated into the show’s final presentation.
