Metanoia - Simone Menezes & K - Cadogan Hall, London

Metanoia - the word itself - means ‘beyond thought’, encompassing the idea of expanding and transforming the way we see and perceive. Metanoia explores the concept of transcendence in music and examines the emotional and spiritual impact that certain composers have been able to achieve, embodying something beyond intellect - true to the original meaning of the term. The project produced a remarkable concert, performed at the Duomo in Milan and at Cadogan Hall in London. It has also been transformed into a documentary in which Simone Menezes and Ensemble K explore transcendence in music and art through a European journey. They talk to major figures such as Antonio Pappano (conductor), Michael Triegel (painter) and Alberto Cavali (thinker). Directed by Paul Smaczny, the documentary won Best Performance Documentary at the International Classical Music Awards.
