When it arrived, his father was surprised that the dial was not pure white – and Mark, when he inquired at Wanna Buy A Watch? in his hometown of Los Angeles, learned that this was because the lacquer had faded over time. In the end, his father decided to keep it, and when he passed away eight years ago, he left the watch to Mark.
