After, he opened a boutique in Geneva, Switzerland and began using black diamonds as the focus of his designs. This began a trend of the use of black diamonds in jewelry. Other trends started by de Grisogono which led others to follow include his use of "galuchat" or stingray on the straps of his watches when he began the foray into the timepiece world. One of de Grisogono's most recent trends is the use of brown tinted gold in both watch and jewelry design. It was only in 2000 that Gruosi and co. introduced de Grisogono's first watch collection, but the timepieces skyrocketed to high-end status.
