But it wasn't just military glam at Jason Wu's Fall/Winter 2012/2013 collection at New York Fashion, it was also black lace, silk, and a palette that referenced his background. The collection, which was predominately sportswear, featured red and green colors in an homage to the militaristic China that he wanted to focus on at times. (Wu actually grew up in Taiwan, not China.) But what of the luxury fur additions, the brocade that someone mentioned on Twitter was the new print for Wu, and the embroidery? This was the luxury that the designer wanted to capture as part of China's dynasties as well as Hollywood's perception of China. Still, while everything made a statement, it was perhaps the power walking and attitude captured by models like Lais Ribeiro and Joan Smalls that rang loudest for us.
