But this time, the look had a nice sheen to it -- whether coming from leather, lacquer, or a gilded effect. It played well against the foam that fell as part of the presentation. Ironically, though the shine may have been an unfamiliar look for the designer, it was meant to provoke a "safe haven" of sorts--an "Island" as he called his collection for the season. While the gothic ambiance prevails, Owens seems to slowly be letting the light in to his clothes, his own silky "safe haven."
