IRIS VAN HERPEN Fall 2026 Couture Paris - Fashion Channel Presented during Paris Haute Couture Week, Iris van Herpen’s Sonic Starquakes collection explored the intersection of science, technology, and couture craftsmanship. Inspired by vibrating stars, cosmic phenomena, and the experimental sound visualizations of Victorian artist Megan Watts Hughes, the collection translated scientific concepts into fluid, ethereal silhouettes. The collection featured billowing metallic organza, intricate pleating, laser-cut velvet, and sheer constructions that created organic, wave-like forms around the body. Graphic motifs with Art Nouveau influences, sculptural capes, and body-contouring designs reinforced the collection’s futuristic aesthetic, while the styling enhanced its otherworldly atmosphere. Among the most technically ambitious pieces were illuminated garments incorporating advanced engineering. One look featured a Lichtenberg figure created through high-voltage electrical discharge within an acrylic structure, while the finale showcased a couture dress integrating plasma contained inside glass tubes that responded to electromagnetic interaction.
