Models like Karlie Kloss, Joan Smalls, and Kati Nescher are getting their makeup done by Tom Pecheux's team. "The collection is SO luxurious, inspired by their faberge eggs. We're in Russia, the tzar, opulence. For balance we needed to go cool, simple--powder on the T zone, no foundation, a little bit of contour, very subtle, and we brushed the eyebrow with a little bit of dry mascara in brown or black to give it a little bit of power, and chapstick on the lips. Hairstylist Sam McKnight says the hair at Balmain is extremely natural, raw--no products, no heat and no brushing. "The clothes are so embellished and so high that we had to take the hair down a few octaves. The audience is blown away by the opulence of the Balmain collection, which has sweaters that look like paintings were three-dimensionally embroidered on them. Other fabrics include lush velvet and leather.
