MUGLER Fall 2026 Paris - Fashion Channel For his second collection at Mugler, creative director Miguel Castro Freitas presented “The Commander,” a lineup exploring the house’s tradition of power dressing through historical and cinematic references. Freitas drew inspiration from figures such as Joan of Arc and Joan Crawford, as well as film characters portrayed by Catherine Deneuve in The Hunger. Elements of science-fiction cinema, including Blade Runner and Gattaca, appeared in pleated lamé dresses, glossy leather military skirt suits, and structured uniforms with strong shoulder shapes. The collection also referenced the archive of Manfred Thierry Mugler, particularly his 1980s collections “Les Secrétaires” and “Les Militaires.” Tailoring played a key role, including pin-striped coats inspired by historical court garments and leather jackets with diagonal zippers. Presented at the Palais de la Porte Dorée in Paris, the collection combined military-inspired tailoring, cinematic references, and sculptural silhouettes, continuing Mugler’s exploration of strength and identity through clothing.
