A worthy successor to a flying legend | IWC Mark XVIII Pilot's Watch - Chrono24 Zoom

The IWC Pilot’s watch Mark XI was the descendant of the Mark XVIII and became one of the most famous Pilot’s watches of all time. The British ministry of defense requested IWC to deliver them some watches. These watches were mostly used by the royal airforce navigators and later on by the pilot’s themselves. The Mark XVIII draws direct inspiration from those vintage IWC Mark XI watches. The IWC Mark XVIII is a stainless steel watch, in a steel case and a steel bracelett. It’s 40 millimetres and about 11 millimetres thick. The whole watch is brushed and there are no polished elements, other than the logo on the clasp and part of the caseback. With its soft-iron inner case for protection against magnetic fields and a front glass secured against displacement by sudden drops in pressure, the Pilot’s Watch Mark XVIII takes up the tradition established by its historic forebear, the legendary Mark XI.
