A Note from on #CoachSpring27 from Coach Creative Director Stuart Vevers:
Today’s show celebrates 85 years of Coach, but it’s not a retrospective. It’s a party
for the people who have shaped the house, and an invitation to those who will shape it
next. What matters to me is that we keep making fashion that becomes more beautiful
through wear, experience and love.
For this collection, love is the message.
Over 85 years, a life has formed around the house. The relationships among the people
who design and make its pieces, and the people who carry them into their own lives. My
vision for Coach has always been of a house that belongs to everyone, shaped by many
different hands and many different stories.
Anniversaries always make me think of the reasons we celebrate. Birthday parties as
celebrations of friends, weddings as celebrations of marriage. They celebrate a life lived
together and all the ways that life leaves its mark. I think of silk and satin, pastel cake,
a train falling from a bias-cut dress, a touch of sparkle, a haze of flowers, silver and gold,
pearlescent light and a treasured tuxedo. With time, these things become softer in
memory, beautifully faded and crystallized.
I think of how I love friendships. A college friend and I recently sat together with
Mazzy Star playing in the background, just as we did in London in the 90s, their song
layered with the new meaning of being here together in New York with a baby on
the rug in front of us.
