GUERLAIN | Cherry Blossom 2022: Interview with Kyoko Création

Born in Japan, Kyoko Sugiura began her career in Japanese silk thread embroidery before coming to France in 2009 to train in Haute Couture embroidery. To create this year's Cherry Blossom: The Exceptional Piece, the artist worked with a community of 18 Japanese women from a variety of backgrounds, training each of them in the art of embroidery in a moving reflection of Japan's hanami tradition. By transforming Cherry Blossom into a human as well as artistic adventure, Guerlain reinforces its commitment to the empowerment of women, by celebrating an art elaborated, perpetuated, and practiced by them throughout the centuries.
