http://www.thewatchbox.com Behold the dawn of the Bronze Age. For the sake of revisionist history, the Bronze Age opened with the 2011 debut of the Panerai Luminor Submersible 1950 3 Days Automatic PAM 382, universally known as the "Bronzo." It's a beast. Already a legend, this 1-of-1,000 limited edition caused a sensation when in bowed in Geneva four years ago. The combination of Panerai's Luminor 1950 47mm case with the full-figured dive bezel of the submersible and a green-on-bronze color combo produced to-die-for good looks. And it's a look that improves with age. Four years removed from that Swiss supernova of a launch, the real advantages of a bronze case is becoming evident: patina. Glorious, blue-green-gray-violet patina. While the fundamental look of each PAM 382 Bronzo is defined by the interplay of the bronze and green tandem, supporting tones emerge as the copper in the bronze ages like the fittings of a grand old yacht. Each Bronzo can be returned to factory-fresh golden sheen if desired, but the patina of each watch is a unique testament to the history and personality of a given watch. Keep it and gain a world of credibility with the Paneristi collector community. Unlike the case, the olive-green dial is a static component, but it was born beautiful, so no changes are good changes. The applied rose gold indexes and hands provide an ideal complement to the bronze bezel, and Panerai had the good sense to equip the PAM 382 with a date disc to match the dial.
