SHOWstudio: Photographing William S. Burroughs - Burroughs in front of Carl Apfelschnitt drawing

Simon speaks about her friendship with the abstract artist Carl Apfelschnitt, whose drawing is shown behind Burroughs, and his influence on her subject and his later experiments with visual art. Artist Kate Simon photographed William S. Burroughs over a 20 year period and produced an intimate body of portraiture of the writer. To mark Burroughs' centenary in 2014, SHOWstudio Shop has hosted a solo exhibition of these widely unseen shots.
