ROLEX SUBMARINER KERMIT REFERENCE 16610LV
First is the iconic Rolex Submariner “Kermit” ref. 16610LV, which was released in 2004 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the famed dive watch. Rolex equipped the “Kermit” with a bezel in their signature green hue to set it apart from other Submariners produced during the same time. It is the only modern Submariner produced with both an aluminum bezel and a Maxi dial with larger hour markers and hands.
The watch was discontinued years ago. However, there is renewed interest in the original green Submariner “Kermit” with the release of the Hulk ref. 116610V in 2010 (which was recently discontinued) and the next-generation Kermit ref. 126610LV in 2020.
Matt’s example was gifted to him by his parents to commemorate his move from New York to California upon starting the Smoking Tire channel. It has been a fixture on his wrist for years, as one can see from the lovely way the bezel has faded over time to a nice minty green and the attractive patina on the bracelet. A watch this exceptional and with just the right amount of patina and wear is a highly prized collector’s item. These days, Farah prefers to preserve the watch, only wearing it occasionally.
