QUEERING: Performer Zooey Gleaves transforms into Lagoon Femshamaya, to RuPaul’s ‘Feel Like a Woman’

The verb form of the word queer, 'Queering' looks for places where gender, sexuality, masculinity and femininity can be challenged and questioned. Our immersive live stream, 12 and 13 July 2018, saw individuals from all walks use their art, talent and physicality to both show and tell us what the term means to them. ‘The ritual of transforming into my drag queen persona is an essential time for myself, a meditative experience; I wanted to show that process, the ritual of becoming the other.’ Zooey Gleaves gives an in-depth look into the transformation into his drag persona, Lagoon Femshamaya, using makeup and cigarettes, before giving a drag performance in an outfit he designed himself.
